Contract Essentials: How to Protect Your Health Center from Unfavorable Terms and Conditions

This three-day virtual training has been specifically designed for health center staff seeking to improve their professional skills in reviewing and negotiating contracts entered by their health center.  The curriculum addresses both the general terms found in all types of legal agreements as well as the regulatory issues arising for health centers in contractual arrangements.

The training will include:

  • Sessions on contracts law fundamentals; common contract terms; HRSA contract requirements; privacy and confidentiality, risk management, and intellectual property considerations; and federal fraud and abuse laws;
  • Best practices across the contract lifecycle for contract management, procurement, and record retention; and
  • Small group exercises with peers to practice the application of knowledge gained from education sessions.

Participants will gain knowledge to more confidently review and negotiate contracts, structure contractual arrangements to comply with legal requirements, and protect health centers from a vendor’s breach or other actions that result in potential liabilities.

Carrie Riley is a Partner in the firm's health care practice group.
