The Compliance and Risk Management Academy is a year-long learning initiative for health center professionals working in the areas of compliance and risk management. Together, CHCANYS and FTLF will guide participants through a four-part series of interactive, virtual meetings.
A required element for compliance programs in New York and for compliance with numerous federal and state laws and regulations, the compliance and risk management training and education expectations for health centers have expanded in recent years. Where an annual or biannual in-service session with a sign-in sheet may have been acceptable before, today’s compliance and risk management trainings often include on-line learning management systems, knowledge checks and quizzes, and attendee attestations. This half-day session will review the expectations for a health center’s compliance program under 18 NYCRR 521.3(c) and the Office of Inspector General (OIG)’s compliance program guidance documents. Presenters will also review key compliance training requirements for health centers under the CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule, the HIPAA Rules and as a component of the FTCA deeming and redeeming application. Through a series of compliance conversations and case studies, presenters and attendees will discuss how to improve new employee, annual and targeted compliance and risk management training and education.
