ForwardBeyond the Checklist: A Credentialing & Privileging Tabletop Challenge
Credentialing and privileging decisions extend far beyond completing a checklist—they are critical risk management functions that directly impact patient safety, regulatory compliance, provider quality, and Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) coverage. This highly interactive two-hour training immerses participants in realistic scenarios that mirror the challenges faced by federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and Health Center Program look-alikes.
Following a concise review of the credentialing and privileging requirements under Chapter 5 of the HRSA Health Center Program Compliance Manual and key FTCA considerations, participants will work through a multi-phase tabletop exercise in which new information is introduced throughout the session. Working as a health center leadership team, participants will evaluate credentialing documents, identify compliance risks, make privileging decisions, respond to operational challenges, and develop corrective action plans. Throughout the workshop, facilitators will connect each scenario to HRSA expectations, operational best practices, and practical strategies that participants can immediately apply within their own organizations.

Brendan M. Tyler
Brendan Tyler is a Senior Associate with the firm's Health Care and Federal Grants practice groups. He focuses the majority of his practice on FTCA coverage for health centers and has been intricately involved in a large number of complex FTCA litigation matters across the country. Brendan also assists clients on a range of transactional matters pertaining to managed care, the Medicare and Medicaid programs, the 340B program, the federal anti-kickback and self-referral prohibitions, and the Public Health Service Act.
