Caring for Health Center Patients in 2025 and Beyond: Gender Affirming Care

February 13, 2025

Recent Executive Orders issued by the Trump Administration —"Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government" and "Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation"— have proposed sweeping changes to redefine gender in federal policy and restrict certain medical care, particularly for transgender youth under the age of 19. While the legality of these Executive Orders is currently being challenged in court, whether or not they are implemented, they forecast the compliance challenges for health centers that offer gender affirming care to their patients as part of their federal scope of project.

In this webinar, Feldesman attorneys will provide an overview of the legal and compliance considerations related to providing gender affirming care, including:

  • An overview of Executive Orders and how they affect clinical practice, funding restrictions, and the rights of transgender patients;
  • Anticipating and responding to patient and employee concerns about the provision of gender affirming care at health centers;
  • Collecting patient information and protecting patient records, including when disclosing patient records is required; and
  •  Exploring the implications of offering gender affirming care outside of the federally supported project as an “other line of business.”

    Please note: This webinar is offered as a complimentary product to all Health Center Compliance Training Plan subscribers. For more information on our Health Center Compliance Training plan, click here or contact us.
