In November 2023, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the Inspector General (OIG) released its new General Compliance Program Guidance (“GCPG”). The GCPG includes updated recommendations for Compliance Programs, including an expanded role for the Compliance Officer and the Staff Compliance Committee and the development of an annual Compliance Training and Education Plan, annual compliance risk assessment and annual Compliance Work Plan.

As Dianne will discuss, the same document is designed to serve as the foundation of your organization’s Compliance Program. This session will walk through the sample to:

- Explain documentation best practices if/when you organization decides not to implement a recommendation from the GCPG
- Discuss how to use the sample if you are starting, revising or reinvigorating your organization’s Compliance Program

Dianne also advises health centers and other organizations on patient privacy and confidentiality, including the HIPAA Privacy Rule and 42 CFR Part 2. She has experience responding to privacy and security incidents, including determining whether there has been a breach, notifying patients and the government, and creating corrective action plans.
