Head Start Fiscal Management

October 13, 2027 to October 14, 2027

Strong fiscal management is essential to the success and sustainability of every Head Start program. With requirements spanning the Head Start Program Performance Standards, Uniform Guidance, and other federal regulations, program leaders must understand both their compliance obligations and their responsibilities for effective financial oversight.

This two-day workshop provides an in-depth examination of the most important fiscal issues facing Head Start organizations today.  Throughout the training, the presenters will explore key requirements related to fiscal management, oversight, internal controls, and accountability, while exploring practical approaches to managing risk and supporting sound financial decision-making.

Led by the nation's leading Head Start attorneys, the workshop combines regulatory guidance with real-world application. Attendees will leave with a stronger understanding of fiscal requirements, practical tools and strategies, and resources that can be used to support ongoing compliance and effective program operations.

Topics Include:

  • Compensation
  • Cost principles
  • Facilities and property
  • Financial management systems
  • Reporting requirements
  • Procurement policies and procedures

How is this training different?

  • It’s collaborative. Attorneys will lead participants in collaborative, solution-oriented discussions.
  • It’s active. While the training is virtual, it's hands-on. Our attorneys will lead you in exercises to help you learn how to read statutes and regulations critically so that when there are changes, you will be better equipped to understand and adapt to the new rules.
  • It’s practical. You’ll walk away with a roadmap to success, complete with to-do lists, best practices, and practical advice on policies and procedures.
