The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which establishes wage and hour laws, is one of the most complicated, misunderstood, and misapplied employment laws. As such, unsurprisingly, the FLSA is also the source of significant legal exposure for businesses with penalties including restitution for unpaid overtime, criminal charges, and debarment from federal contracting opportunities. In 2021, the Department of Labor brought nearly 25,000 compliance actions, resulting in its recovery of more than $230 million in total unpaid back wages for workers!
In this special two-part webinar, we will guide you through an organization’s compliance obligations under the FLSA and explore:
- Does the FLSA apply to my organization?
- What is the difference between an exempt and nonexempt employee?
- What are the “White Collar” exemptions and how are they determined?
- What are the ramifications for violating the FLSA by misclassifying employees?
- What are my organization’s recordkeeping obligations and how do we comply with those obligations for remote workers?
- Are independent contractors entitled to overtime pay under the FLSA?
- What is considered compensable time and non-compensable time under the FLSA?
Additionally, we will help you identify common pitfalls under the FLSA, walk you through best practices, and provide practical strategies that you can use to ensure that your organization satisfies its compliance obligations.
Please note: This webinar is offered as a complimentary product to all Employment Law and Human Resources Compliance and Training Package holders. For more information on the training package, click here or Contact Us.
