Integrated Care: Legal and Compliance Risks
Access the on-demand webinar here.
Combining primary health care and behavioral health care can lead to better outcomes for patients with behavioral health needs and substance use disorders. Information shared among and between team members can lead to better clinical decision-making by members of the care team and important linkages to needed services.
For health centers, and organizations seeking to collaborate with health centers, integrated care models present additional legal and compliance considerations and risks, particularly if the integration is achieved via a contractual relationship with another organization. Health centers should accordingly understand the associated requirements and considerations. Health centers must also address their compliance responsibilities when using and disclosing patient health information, including substance use disorder information protected by 42 CFR Part 2.
This webinar will review the most common models used by health centers when developing integrated care models, discuss the related patient data sharing considerations and outline key compliance and legal concerns throughout the integration process.
