Self-Disclosure: What Is It and What Happens Next
This webinar is included in the
Health Center 360 Annual Compliance Training Subscription.
Even health centers with strong compliance programs can uncover potential overpayments, billing errors, potential conflicts of interest, noncompliance with grant terms, or other issues that warrant further review. Frequently such concerns are the result of concerns brought forth by employees, Board members or patients. Once a concern is identified, health centers must determine whether corrective action, repayment, or disclosure to a government agency is required and understand the potential consequences of each course of action as well as the consequences of not taking action and/or failing to fully investigate the identified concerns. Health centers should also understand and be mindful of whistleblower protection laws and particularly the duty of the Office of Inspectors General to investigate retaliation claims of contractor and grantee employees under 41 U.S.C. Sect. 4712.
In this webinar, Feldesman Managing Partner Ted Waters will examine the circumstances that may trigger self-disclosure obligations and the steps health centers should take when potential compliance issues arise. Participants will gain practical insight into conducting internal assessments, evaluating available options, making informed disclosure decisions, and navigating the process that follows as well as ensuring that a compliance problem does not grow into a bigger issue.
The on-demand version of this webinar will be available for purchase after the conclusion of the live webinar.
