(Recorded Webinar) Navigating Privacy Concerns In the Pandemic

This course is closed to new enrollments.

Duration: 75 minutes
Webinar recorded on: 8/12/2020

As cities and states across the country navigate the process of reopening, businesses are also plotting their own way forward. When Head Start programs move closer to reopening and returning to "normal," they are likely to hear from concerned staff, parents, and community members about new policies, practices, and contingency planning to keep everyone safe.

On this webinar, we will discuss common questions about privacy that you should anticipate (and our best suggestions for answering them) and questions to consider as you review your program's existing privacy practices.

For example, while Head Start programs and their childcare partners are not required to screen students or staff to identify cases of COVID-19, you should still establish procedures to follow when students or staff become sick. This policy may address key issues, including:

  • If one or more employees test positive for COVID-19, who should be informed? What information can you share?
  • Are there questions you can (and should) ask employees to gather more information? Which questions are off-limits?
  • Can you make any disclosures without an employee's consent? To whom?
  • Do the same practices apply to a sick student or do you need a different policy?

  • CEOs / Program Directors
  • CFOs and Fiscal Staff
  • Compliance Officers and Staff
  • Project Managers and other Grants Management Staff
