Trust but Verify: Subrecipient Oversight Strategy

February 25, 2027

This webinar is included in the Federal Grants Training Membership.

Making subawards is fraught with risk by design: prime award recipients must conduct documented risk assessments of their subrecipients and implement appropriate oversight when passing through grant funds. Subrecipient monitoring is a core pass-through responsibility discharged in regular check-ins, desk reviews, routine invoice validation, site visits, unannounced inspections, and agreed-upon monitoring procedures. As with grant funding in general, successful subawards turn on mutual trust and documentation that support claimed costs and build a record of performance.

In this session, attorney Phillip Escoriaza will address key subrecipient policies, procedures, and strategies to build trust, monitor performance and support subrecipient grant management compliance. Working from core compliance requirements under the Uniform Guidance in 2 C.F.R. Part 200, Mr. Escoriaza will discuss practical tools and strategies to assess subrecipient capacity and drive performance oversight with an eye to enhancing grant compliance.

The on-demand version of this webinar will be available for purchase after the conclusion of the live webinar.
