Can We Do That? Lobbying and Political Activity for Federal Grantees

October 6, 2026

Election season is in full swing.  What do federal grantees need to know?

This webinar will unpack the nuances of long-standing restrictions on using federal funds for lobbying, grassroots lobbying, supporting or opposing referendums and ballot initiatives, and other political activities. The presenters will examine the Uniform Guidance, federal tax law, and the Hatch Act, highlighting both specific limitations as well as the broader concept of cost allowability.

Although the proposed changes to the Uniform Guidance have been temporarily paused by Congress, the training will briefly touch on the possible updates, and implications for grantees as they advocate for their mission.

Designed with a practical focus, this session will help federal funding recipients navigate the advocacy and political engagement while maintaining compliance with applicable requirements. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to advance their organization's goals while adhering to federal restrictions on lobbying and political activities.

Please note the webinar will consist of 60 minutes of content followed by 15 minutes for questions.

The on-demand version of this webinar will be available for purchase one week after the conclusion of the live webinar.
