(Recorded Webinar) Concept to Practice: Whistleblower Policies and Procedures

Duration: 180 minutes
Recorded on: 09/04/2025

The United States annually recovers billions through federal False Claims Act actions, many of which are brought by whistleblowers incentivized by the potential for a significant monetary share in any settlement or judgment. Recipients of federal funding—whether through grants, contracts, or participation in federal healthcare programs such as Medicare and Medicaid—can mitigate the risk of whistleblower actions by encouraging internal whistleblowing, fostering a culture of transparency, protecting whistleblowers from retaliation, and promptly and effectively addressing employee concerns and complaints.

In this interactive webinar designed for federal grantees of all types, Feldesman attorneys will discuss legal and compliance considerations related to internal whistleblower activity, including:

  • An overview of the federal False Claims Act and other statutes that incentivize whistleblowing with financial rewards and protect whistleblowers against retaliation;
  • An exploration of recent case studies to illuminate what motivates internal and external whistleblowing;
  • Practical and actionable management strategies for on developing, implementing, and maintaining robust internal systems that encourage reporting, balance confidentiality and transparency, protect against retaliation, and comply with federal requirements.

Sample tools, such as template policies, will be provided as part of the course and will serve as a basis for practical portions of the presentation. Questions will be welcome throughout.
