Tax-exempt organizations operate within a complex legal and regulatory landscape. This training will provide a comprehensive look at how the organizations operate, and their regulatory interaction with federal tax law, state nonprofit regulation, and evolving governance expectations. It will also explore the requirements for achieving and maintaining tax-exempt status, along with organizations’ obligations to satisfy a complex set of legal standards governing organizational structure, operations, political activity, and financial oversight.
Feldesman attorneys will address key strategic transactions for tax-exempt organizations and the regulatory framework governing supporting organizations, subsidiaries, and joint ventures. The webinar will also review compliance obligations, including annual reporting through IRS Form 990, state charitable registration requirements, and circumstances that may trigger changes to tax-exempt status.
