(Recorded Webinar) Offering Patient Incentives for Preventive Care: Recent Interpretations by the OIG

Duration: 60 minutes
Recorded on: 3/14/2024

Patient incentives, such as gift cards, are broadly recognized as important tools to promote healthy behaviors, increase visits for primary and preventive services, and improve health care outcomes. Despite these benefits, the federal Beneficiary Inducement Prohibition has long posed a challenge to health centers seeking to implement patient incentive programs.

During this webinar, Feldesman attorney Adam Falcone will explain the regulatory exception for preventive care, review recent interpretations by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) of how this exception applies to immunizations, and offer guidance on how to structure patient incentive programs to minimize legal risks, including best practices for patient incentives that do not fit within current exceptions.
